湖南花鼓戏的班社发展可以分为三个历史时期,即草台班时期,形成于清代嘉庆年间;半台班时期,活跃于19世纪末至20世纪30年代;专业剧团时期,活跃于20世纪30年代之后。

The development of Hunan Huagu Opera troupe can be divided into three historical periods as follows：The junior one（a small scantily-equipped traveling theoretical troupe giving shows in villages and small towns） which was formed in the reign of Emperor Jiaqing in the Qing dynasty;the senior one（a theatrical troupe giving shows of both Hunan opera and Huagu Opera）,which lasted from the end of the 1900s to the 1930s;and the professional one,which came up after the 1930s.
