Attributive,Referential and Adaptive:Uses of Indexicals in Interactions

日常会话中存在很多指示语的常规用法与非常规用法。在唐奈兰(Donnellan)限定摹状词理论视域下研究指示语的归属性用法与指称性用法,可以看出,会话者选择指示语的非常规用法目的在于凸显其指称性功能,此表意过程受驱于会话者构建个人或他人形象身份的交际意图,具有强烈的动态语境顺应性;会话者利用指示语的顺应语境特性来驱动它的归属性与指称性之间的相互凸显或弱化。

The marked and unmarked uses of indexicals are often salient in various contexts.The paperattempts to unveil the attributive and referential uses of indexicals against the framework of Donnellan＇s definite description theory.Based on the discursive analysis of data in authentic discourses,it is found that in most cases the interlocutors choose the marked orunconventional uses of indexicals to make the referential uses more salient,and this sense-making process,which entails another attribute,i.e.,dynamic adaptability to contexts,is driven by the communicative intent of construing the self-orother-identity in interaction.
