中国古典小说的产生、发展与史传有着深刻而直接的血缘关系,史传是孕育中国古典小说的母体。史传因其本身所含有的丰富的与小说创作息息相通的文学素质,而理所当然地规束着中国古典小说的发展、演变乃至成熟。这种影响与规束体现在古典小说观念方面,即补史之阙的目的、以"史"为宗的评判标准、在事实与虚构间徘徊等。

The creation and development of the Chinese classic novels have profound and direct ties with the historic books,which are the matrix of the Chinese classic novels.The historic books have inevitable restraint on the development,change and maturity of the Chinese classic novels owing to their rich literary quality closely related to the creation of novels.Such influence and restraint are manifested in the concepts of classic novels,that is,the purpose of making up the defect of historic books,judgement criterion of taking history as the grounds and wandering between fact and fabrication.
