The tragedy of O＇Neil＇s Yank is that he experienced the process of being a human then to being an inhuman.And this is not only the tragedy of Yank＇s,but everyone in the modern society——the tragedy of morbid identity crisis.Though Yank acts like an ape,but in essence,he is a human who doesn＇t have a harmonious relationship with the industrial society,a mad man twisted by his age.Yank＇s madness indicates the pathological generation mechanism of the society.
