Cha Shenxing toured Lingnan in his old age and left behind him two volumes of poetry entitled Yue You Ji which expressed the comprehensive and ecological harmony between human and nature, man and society, body and mind, speech and action, feeling and principle. In the core of the poems are the poet＇s poetic perception of nature, passionate empathy of life and love, aspiration to social harmony, and transcendence over life and real- ity. The perspective of ecological aesthetics for Cha＇s poems will also enable readers to understand better the sight- seeing poems of other great poets like Zhu Yizun and Wang Shizhen in the Qing Dynasty.
