This paperprobes into the teacher’s role frommetacognitive learning strategy perspective.An English teacher’s priority is to enable his students to learn how to learn so that they can become autonomous learners.This means English teachers must change their teaching concepts,elevate their professional level,attach great importance to selfdevelopment so as to assist the students with theirplanning,monitoring and evaluating learning process.
