The strength of expansive soil is closely related to its w ater content. The strength problem ofthe expansive soil is studied by the test in the paper. The test results show that the peak value strength andstable state strength of the expansive soilare strongly affected by w ater content of the expansive soil. Theresults are very im portant for the engineering design and safe survey.
