民族区域自治制度是我们党和国家解决民族问题的一项基本政治制度。民族区域政策的实施,是对各少数民族生存权、发展权的尊重和保障。当前,民族分裂和宗教极端势力对我国进行的渗透、破坏活动,已经成为影响我国社会和谐稳定的因素。正确认识和把握新形势下的民族问题,深入贯彻落实党的民族区域自治政策,不断巩固和发展全国各族人民的大团结,是全面建设小康社会,实现中华民族伟大复兴的必然要求。

The system of ethnic regional autonomy is a basic political system which is a correct solution to ethnic issue in China. The implementation of regional autonomy for ethnic minorities is a measure to respect and protect ethnic minorities＇ rights to subsistence and development. Currently, ethnic separa- tism and religious extremism infiltrated and sabotaged our country, and they had become an important factor that affects our social harmony and stability. To correctly understand and grasp the ethnic issues that under the new situation, to thoroughly implement the policy, and to constantly consolidate and de- velop the great unity of people of all nationalities, is an all-round way to build a well-off society and a necessary requirement to realize the great revitalization of the Chinese nation.
