Animal Images,Feminine Discourse and Humanistic Care in Coetzee's Novel

Age of Iron, the 6th work of South African novelist J. M. Coetzee, is rich with animal images. This paper, by a careful study of the images, looks into the jungle rule inherent in his works. Simultaneously, Coetzee attempts to restore humanistic concerns with female discourse and inter-personal and inter-species care ethics. Thus, Age of Iron explores the possibility of countering an indifferent and alienated reality where jungle rule dominates with female discourse and humanistic care.
