The main technical progresses of the spout-fluidized bed were described. The hydrodynamics of the spout-fluidized bed, such as typical spout shapes, bed pressure drop, solid circulation rate, the minimum spout-fluidizing velocity, particle residence time, were discussed.The applications of the spout-fluidized bed on coal processing, such as pyrolyse, gasification and combustion were introduced. In the end, the future of the spout-fluidized bed were looked into.
