杜牧非议李德裕的言辞发表于李党全面失败之后。其乖常之举原因有三:一是出自个人仕宦前景的考量,二是抒发李德裕执政期间不受重用的怨气,三是为了家族利益的最大化。杜牧的言行是当时的文人士大夫阶层世俗功利之心外化之缩影,具有典型意义。

Du Mu's excoriation and impeachment of Li Deyu occurred after the downfall of the Li Deyu clique.There were three causes for Du Mu's abnormal behavior: The first was for the sake of his future;the second was his resentment against Li who did not use him;the third was to maximize the interests of his clan.Du's speech and behavior were an epitome of the utilitarian mind of the gentry and literati of the time and were of typical significance.
