Universities journals are relatively inferior to professional academic journals in circulation volume and influence.The basic approaches to promoting the academic quality of university journals are proposed taking Journal of Dalian University of Technology for example.The first approach is fully utilizing the research resources of colleges and universities.The concrete methods include tracing the research trends,building a dynamic relationship with the research groups,using the influence of the members of the journal editorial boards,strengthening the efforts of publicity,standing out the key points of reporting,focusing on the strong research subjects,keeping an eye on research hotspots,centralizing report force,paying much attention to research foreland and overlapping science,and making full use of the resources of schoolfellows to expand influence.The second approach is strengthening the editorial quality control.The steps include establishing a strict system of peer examining and approving manuscripts to ensure the academic quality of journals,setting up the system of editorial responsibility to minimize the editorial errors,and building an international retrieval system to heighten the citation frequency.The third approach is assuming the social responsibilities as improving author levels.After many years of practicing,Journal of Dalian University of Technology has managed to develop a favorable brand image and greatly improve academic quality and influence by employment of the university research resources and nicer editorial quality.
