在构建和谐社会的今天许多传统民俗仍具有不可替代的现代价值,包括促进经济发展、增强民族自信心和凝聚力、进行爱国主义教育、构建和谐社会、传承历史文化、承继传统美德以及保护民间艺术等。在三峡库区众多的民族中,土家族人数最多。在漫长的历史中,土家族人创造了极为丰富的传统民俗,如果对其进行开发,可以对三峡库区全面建设小康社会产生积极的促进作用。

Lots of traditional folk custom has the irreplaceable modern value,such as,promoting economic development,enhancing national self-confidence and cohesion,patriotism education,boosting the construction of harmonious society,inheritance of history and culture,carrying forward traditional virtue and protecting folk art,although some of the folk custom has lost its original function,even has some negative function under the circumstance of constructing modern harmonious society.In Three Gorges area,Tujia people create extremely rich traditional folk custom.Its development can help to build well-off society in an all-around way in Three Gorges Reservoir.
