A General Survey of Metaphorical Theories in Western Countries

西方的隐喻研究大致可分为三个阶段:隐喻的修辞学研究,隐喻的语义学研究和隐喻的多学科研究。从整个历史来看,西方的隐喻研究学者提出了对比论、互动论、映射论以及概念合成论等隐喻理论,隐喻研究主要是在这些理论基础上进行,并围绕这几个层面展开。文章在介绍和讨论这些隐喻理论的同时,对它们的贡献及存在的不足进行了评析。

The studies of metaphor in western countries can be generally divided into three stages： the rhetorical studies of metaphor,the semantic studies of metaphor and the multidisciplinary studies of metaphor.Throughout the history,scholars in western countries have put forward some metaphorical theories such as the Comparative Theory,the Interaction Theory,the Mapping Theory and the Conceptual Blending Theory,and on which metaphor studies are chiefly based respectively.In this paper,the author has analyzed the contributions and shortcomings of these theories while introducing and discussing them.
