The 20th century is the century of the mythology renaissance. Just as many 20th century western modernist authors, who all turned their eyeshot towards ancient mythology, William Faulkner constructed modernist mythology poetically in his novel The Sound and the Fury. His novel inherits the mythology tradition of "the descent of Yoknapatawpha. " The strident antinomy and collision between the Sartoris representative of traditional southern aristocrats and the world of Snopus representative of burgeoning north bourgeois, is the macroscopical construction of this novel. While the mythical configuration pattern of contraposition is the deep-seated structure of this work. As a modernist author with the violent consciousness of worry, Faulkner persisted to construct the mythical Utopia and pondered and explored the hope and outlet of redemption of "the lost modern people".
