Preparation of Superpositions of Coherent States of a Field via the Intensity Dependent Coupling Jaynes Cummings Model

A scheme is presented for preparing superpositions of coherent states of a cavity field with controllable weighting factors and phases. It is based on state selective measurement on atoms crossing the cavity via the intensity dependent coupling.
