A Thorny Rose——On Divergence of the Theme of A Rose for Emily from the Pluralism of Interpretations

古往今来,几乎每一部优秀的文学作品都经历了一个被不断解读、不断阐释的过程。福克纳最著名的短篇小说《纪念爱米丽的一朵玫瑰花》也不例外。以西方的阐释学理论为依据,分析作品主题意义的多种阐释,发现该小说的主题意义并非仅仅停留在揭示南方社会及其传统中存在的问题,更重要的是表达了福克纳对南方精神中人性化一面的赞誉,借以为当时南方人的精神荒野注入活力,重建一个崭新的美好精神家园。

Throughout the ages,nearly every well-written literary works goes through a process of constant understanding and interpretations,including A Rose for Emily,the most famous short novel of Faulkner.In light of Hermeneutic theory,this paper gives an analysis on the diversified interpretations of its theme,and points out that this novel actually expresses Faulkner’s appreciation for the valuable side of the South spirit and his ideal of creating a new spiritual world for the South.
