在美国,使用微型航天器来执行空间科学和探测任务是近几年才提出的一个新设想。有关专家指出,微型航天器设想是可行的,微型航天器可用于执行那些需要在空间多个不同位置同时进行测量的任务,也可用于对速度增量要求很高的任务。本文对微型航天器的科学目标和仪器及其可能从事的科学使命进行了讨论,并概述了分系统及运载方面的问题。
This paper presents the concept of using very small spacecraft (microspacecraft) for space science and exploration missions in the United States. Microspacecraft are believed to be feasible and can be enabling for missions that require multiple simultaneous measurements displaced in position or very high mission delta-V's. The paper includes discussions of science objectives and instruments, potential missions, subsystems as well as launch vehicle consideration.
