In North Song Dynasty,many literary intellectuals and squires were attracted to study and live in seclusion in Maoshan Mountain or went sightseeing around here due to its superior geographical position and the rich Taoism culture.With their high cultural education,the Maoshan Mountain Taoist priests associated widely with the then intellectuals,making Mao Mountain Taoism prosperous at that time.In the North Song Dynasty Maoshan,Mountain Taoist teachings on mental exercise to achieve immortality catered to the then intellectuals,making the Maoshan Taoism the most renowned Taoist faction at that time.The Maoshan Taoist classics,Edicts of Truth and A Reader of Taoist Teachings：Huang Tingjing had a great impact on the then intellectuals in terms of their thinking,life and literary creation as well.
