易本烺《字辨证篆》说略

A Brief Discussion on Yi Benlang's Zi Bian Zheng Zhuan(字辨证篆)

易本烺是清代嘉庆、道光年间的学者,其学术主要表现在对"小学"的研究,《字辨证篆》是他文字学研究的力作。他发展了传统《说文》学的研究,他以《说文》为本,重在研究汉字在隶变以后的应用情况。他在《字辨证篆》一书中较为全面而详细地描述了汉字隶变以后的种种发展变化,同时他还指出汉字隶变以后各种误用现象和汉字书写形势的变化源流,在一定程度上对汉字隶变的规律作了表述。

Yi Benlang,a Chinese scholar who lived through the reigns of Emperor Jiaqing and Emperor Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty,was best known for his academic studies on Chinese philology,Xiaoxue（小学）,of which his work Zi Bian Zheng Zhuan（字辨证篆） characterizes the essence of his studies on Chinese characters.Yi enriched traditional studies over Origin of Chinese Characters（说文） by probing into the situation of the applications of Chinese characters after their transformation into official script or Libian（隶变,an evolving process of Zhuan style to Lishu through changing curves to straight strokes and omitting or combining radicals）.In Zi Bian Zheng Zhuan（字辨证篆）,he described comprehensively and in detail the various changes and development of Chinese characters after their evolution into the official script.He also pointed out the source and course of cases of misusing or miswriting Chinese characters after their evolution to official script,which,to some extent,touched upon the laws governing the evolution of Chinese characters into Lishu style,the official script of Chinese characters.
