In recent years South Korea has been taking great efforts in developing green economy and has made considerable achievements in improving energy efficiency, increasing proportion of clean energy in the total energy consumption and reducing reliance on fossil energy. As a critical approach to realizing green economic growth, South Korea＇s smart grid develops rapidly. This paper introduces the background and main approaches of South Korea＇s green growth strategies, analyzes the goal and the progress of the smart grid, summarizes the characteristics of the smart grid development, and proposes suggestions for China＇ s smart grid development.
