Not one to put on airs,Wang Jian is not someone who enjoys being serious; sitting in his cubicle he looks to be just one of the general staff,chatting and joking with co-workers.Of course,as one of the scientists working on the Human Genome Project,he also knows how to be very serious.Additionally,he is one of the heads of the world's largest genome sequencing center:The Beijing Genomics Institute(BGI) in Shenzhen. BGI is located in the Beishan industrial zone near Shenzhen's Yantian Port. While BGI is almost unknown within China,it enjoys quite a bit of fame on the international stage.Some of the world's most active and best-known genome scientists have patronized the gray office buildings that make up the institute.
