Objective: To explore the role and significance of glycation end product receptor(RAGE) and P-selectin in the development of preeclampsia. Methods: RT-PCR analysis was used to detect the expression of RAGE and P-selectin mRNA in placenta tissue and maternal blood from 40 cases of preeclampsia(20 cases of mild preeclampsia and 20 cases of severe preeclampsia) and 30 cases of normal term pregnant. Results: Expression of RAGE and P-selectin mRNA in placenta tissue and maternal blood was both detected in preeclampsia and normal group.Compared with normal group, the levels of RAGE and P-selectin in placenta tissue and serum of preeclampsia were elevated(P0.05),and the expression levels of severe preeclampsia were higher than those in mild preec-lampsia(P0.05).The expressions of RAGE and P-selectin in placenta tissue and serum were all positively related. Conclusion: The high levels of RAGE and P-selectin in placenta tiusse and maternal blood may be associated with the occurrence and development of preeclampsia, and both of them may have synergies role in the development of preeclampsia.
