This paper distinguishes the'sin related to the tree of knowledge'from the 'sin of women' in Chapter 10 of Volume 14 in The City of God by Augustine, and analyzes his two concepts of sin.On the one hand,Augustine held that the eating of the forbidden fruit of the tree of knowledge by Adam and Eve originated from arrogance, which was the beginning of all sins; on the other hand,he thought that the first degeneration led to the sin of lust,a general term for all sins. The first interpretation is about the philosophical origin of the sins of humans; the latter is about the worldly expression of the sins of humans.
