The New Face of "White Bone Demon"——On the Chinese New Words Formed by Meaning Extension

自上世纪九十年代起,特别是进入"新时代"以来,汉语新词中出现一种充分利用原有词语的外在形式去表达新义的"旧瓶装新酒"现象。这种语言现象有多种类型。"旧瓶装新酒"语言现象的出现不是偶然的,我们可以从语言自身以及社会方面找到其原因。这种类型的新词,随着社会的发展,或"隐退",或融入原有的词语中。

Since 1990＇s,especially in the recent decade,some new words appear in the Chinese language which employ the original forms of old words to express new meanings. There are many types of this way of word-formation. The appearance of this linguistic phenomenon is not accidental. Its cause can be found from the perspective of social and linguistic development. These new words will be out of use or become established words in the language with the development of language and society.
