Recriticism of Confucian Practice of Shu Suntong

作为一名儒者,叔孙通深谋远虑,因利乘便,与时俱进,行事委婉,终为汉家重用。但人们对其儒学实践颇有微词。其实,叔孙通成功的儒学实践正是先秦以来儒家自我调整、自我革新的结果,它促成了儒家政治理想向现实的转化,并为儒学从私学逐步上升为国家意识形态提供了极为珍贵的实践经验。

Shu Suntong, as a Confucian, had the foresight and ability to tactfully cope with various situations, so he was put in important official positions in Han Dynasty. But some people criticized Shu Suntong for his confusian practice. Actually, the Confucian practice of Shu Suntong was just the consequences of self adjustment and self annovation of Confucianism since Pre-Qin. Shu Suntong made great contributions to Confucianism, for his role adjustment pushed confucianism ahead to shift from its political ideals into political reality, and escalate from a private school into state ideology.
