The Changes of China's Modern Media Attitudes towards Japan——With The Eastern Miscellany at the Center

20世纪最初三十年,正是日本通过日俄战争最终走上军国主义道路,并加紧推行侵华政策,为全面发动侵华战争作最后准备的重要时期。在此期间,《东方杂志》的日本观,走出了最早因日俄战争而"醉心"日本的误区,坚持全力揭露和批判日本军国主义,不仅反映了国人的民族自觉和爱国情怀,而且在申明大义中复超越了狭隘的民族主义。它正确地将后者的侵华政策归结于日本现代的政治制度,而将日本民族与日本统治阶级相区别,深切体察并宣传日本人民的亲善与坚信中日两国人民友谊的发展,充分表现了中华民族可贵的理性与宽容。

In the 1930s,Japan was ready to invade China after the Japan-Russia War,in which The Eastern Miscellany didn＇t support Japan as it did at the beginning of this War,but opposed and criticized the Japan＇s militarism.It not only reflects the national feeling and patriot but also surpasses the narrow nationalism in the representation of great righteousness.The Eastern Miscellany thinks that the policies of invading China should be due to Japan＇s modern political system,and the Japanese nation and Japanese ruling class should be differentiated,thus displaying the valuable reason and forgiveness of the Chinese nation.
