大学生只有真正理解法制教育的作用,才会积极地培养自身的法律意识。对大学生进行法制教育,就是要提高大学生的法律素质,培养大学生的法律思维方式,使其适应现代法律生活,善于运用法律武器维护自身合法权益,积极寻求法律途径解决纠纷和争议,主动抵制破坏法律和秩序的行为;使大学生明确了解法律规范,熟知自己的权利义务,有效调整自己的行为,养成学法、知法、守法和护法的好习惯,真正成为国家栋梁之才。

College students will actively cultivate their own legal awareness only when they have got a good understanding of the role of the legal education. Legal education for college students is intended to promote their qualities and train their thinking in law ~ that they can adapt to the modern legal life, know how to use the law to protect their own legal rights, seek legal methods to solve disputes and arguments, resist the conducts of breaking the law and order, have good knowledge of rules and regulations, know well their own rights and obli- gations, effectively adjust their own behavior and form the good habit of learning, knowing, obeying and protecting the law. Then they will become the nation＇s supporting columns.
