《绘画世说新语》英译商榷

Deliberation on English translation of Shih-shuo Hsin-yü

《绘画世说新语评点.英译珍藏本》(马照谦译,上海古籍出版社出版),使许多对文学经典和英语有兴趣的普通读者也能轻松地阅读《世说新语》这部才藻新奇,语言隽美的典籍,管窥其人物故事、语言艺术及美学价值。然而,其英译部分存在着诸多值得商榷之处,论文拟对其中出现的错误理解原文、漏译、误译、文化信息传递失误、选词表述不当等问题进行考证、解析,以期得到更准确更流畅传神的译文。

Shih-shuo Hsin-yü：Paintings,Reviews and English Translation enables the ordinary literature lovers to appreciate the Chinese literature classic and its English edition,and enjoy the novelty and concinnity of its language,unique story-telling skill,and the historical and aesthetics value as well.However,there exist quite a few problems in the English translation that would influence or even mislead the readers＇ understanding.In this paper,several categories of faults are pointed out and analyzed for the purpose of getting more accurate and fluent translation.
