从赏析到阐释——英美文学经典及其在我国教学与研究60年

From Appreciation to Interpretation——British and American Literary Canon and Its Sixty Years' Teaching and Research in China

经典是当代西方文学批评中出现频率最高的术语之一。回顾新中国英美文学经典教学和研究60年的历程,我们发现我们走过了一条从赏析到阐释的曲折之路。如果说改革开放之前的赏析以英语习得为主要目标,那么之后的多元阐释则离开语言实践,更多地关注文学与文化研究本身。两种倾向孰轻孰重,见仁见智,重要的是找到一个平衡点,既使作品回归文学本身,又不至于过度阐释。

Canon is one of the most frequently used terms in the literature of western literary cricism： Looking back on the 60 years＇ teaching and research of foreign literature in China, we find that it in- volves a transition from appreciation to interpretation of literary works. If the apperciation of western literary works were mainly aimed at English learning before the introducion of the policy of reform and opening--up, after that, the multiple interpretation has been away from language practice and paid more attention to literary and culturla studies. There is a difference of opinion as to which trend of the two is better. What matters is to find a point of balance between the literary works＇s return to literature itself and their excessive interpretation.
