The meaning of each parameter of multifractal spectra is discussed in detail. The reason for the appearance of the anomalous segment in stochastic multifractals is indicated. A method in which anomalous small probabilities are neglected to partially eliminate such segments is proposed. Various applications of multifractals in materials research are presented.
