English Subjects with Adverbial Functions and their Translation

英语是形合型的语言,但不乏意合的形式。状性主语是英语语言里一种意合现象之一。通过对英语状性主语进行了界定,探讨了英语状性主语的类型和特点,并在此基础上通过对比分析的方法探讨英语状性主语的翻译方法。

English is mainly characterized by hypotaxis.The English Subject with adverbial Functions is one of the linguistic phenomena which show that English is the language of the combination of hypotaxis and parataxis.This paper defines this kind of subject,probes into the types and features of this kind of subject,and suggests two ways of translation on the basis of the contrastive analysis of this kind of subject between English and Chinese.
