在近代中国各大中城市均有码头工人们劳作的身影,尤以上海为众。对该群体的研究不仅能够充实下层社会群体研究,而且赋予我们全新的视角考察近代中国社会。近代以来大量本地乡村与外省劳动力涌入上海码头,在发展与壮大码头工人队伍的同时增加了城市人口,改变了城市人口、家庭、阶级及组织结构,并对城市文化发展产生了一定的影响,同时也带来了一系列的社会问题。

In modern China,there were dockmen working in every large and medium-sized cities,and it＇s especially many in Shanghai.The research about this group is not only able to enrich lower classes research,but also give us new inspecting visual angle to modern Chinese society.Over the past modern times,a large amount of labors from local country and the other provinces had fled into Shanghai docks,which had increased urban population while having developed and expanded the dockman team,changed urban structures of population,family and class,produced certain effect to city culture,and had also serial social problems.
