Currently,there is an increasing interest in heavy ion radiotherapy which has been proved to be more effective and safe to many tumor types than traditional radiotherapy.Many new facilities are being installed in USA,Germany and Japan.This development is accompanied by intensive technical,physical and clinical researches.China is the fourth country in the world that applies heavy ion radiotherapy.This advanced technology would play a more and more important role in tumor therapy in the future.
