Speech act theory is one of the most important theory in pragmatics.It can be applied to foreign language teaching and learning which should not only focus on the improvement of students＇ linguistic competence but also emphasize training their communicative competence.This paper discuss speech act theory and the influences of this theory on communicative language teaching.At the same time,it talks about some implication of speech act theory to some teaching practices.
