Aristotle's Valuable Exploration about the Specific-general Relationship——Reading notes about Metaphysics

亚里士多德在辩证法和认识论的统一中理解个别和一般的关系,指出:只有个别的东西才能独立存在,一般的东西只能在个别的东西之中存在;在个别的东西之外不存在所谓一般的东西。同时,由于亚里士多德对辩证法和认识论统一的认识并不是自觉的,所以他在个别和一般的关系问题上是动摇的混乱的,有不少糊涂思想。

Aristotle analyzed the relation of the specific and the general against the unity of dialectics and epistemol-ogy;he pointed out that only the specific thing can survive independently and the general one can merely exist in the specific things;there is nothing like so-called the general that can exist in anything other than the specific things.At the same time,since he did not self-consciously realize the unity of dialectics and epistomology,he was quite vacillating and confused about the specific-general relation.
