Well Puffin-12 is a multi-target directional appraisal well located in Puffin Oilfield,Timor Sea,Australia.Since it had to be sidetracked several times,its casing program is very complex.In order to improve drilling efficiency,the Schlumberger’s second generation rotary steerable system,Power Drive Xceed was used.Steering system,tool face control,performance parameters,advantages and limitations of Power Drive Xceed were introduced.The Well Puffin-12 casing and well trajectory parameters were introduced briefly.The application of Power Drive Xceed was introduced in each section of Well Puffin-12.The results show that Power Drive Xceed improved ROP and reduced drilling cost.
