＂Earth-drying and Water-exhaustion＂syndrome is the masterly generalization of three emergent purgation syndromes of Yangming disease and three emergent purgation syndromes of Shaoyin disease in Treatise on Cold-induced Febrile Diseases.ZHANG Zhong-jing adopted＂Blocking and Reversing Therapy＂with Dachengqi Decoction to Preserve Yin by emergent purgation,and good results have been achieved,so the study of this syndrome and therapy are greatly admired.The writer deeply analyses the application mechanism of＂Blocking and Reversing Therapy＂in＂Earth-drying and Water-exhaustion＂ syndrome by studying the source and historical material of the therapy and syndrome.Hopefully to provide the theoretical basis when using＂Blocking and Reversing Therapy＂in modern clinical Chinese medicine.
