Conceptual integration theory is proposed to interpret people＇ s thinking patterns by analyzing the language they use. With this theory, this paper makes a dynamic analysis of the meaning construction of puns in English headlines that, when interpreting puns in headlines, people will al- ways undertake such cognitive activities as constructing, completing, expanding, etc. , and then in- tegrate the meanings hidden in those puns and map those integrated meanings to reality, thus obtaining their new implications. It proves that the Conceptual Integration Theory can provide a detailed description and profound explanation of the perceiving process of puns in headlines, which opens up a broader prospect for studying puns in English headlines.
