Cultural Criticism of Local Community——On Ideological Connotations of Sha Ting's Novels Written in 1930s-1940s

20世纪三四十年代沙汀以巴蜀地区为背景的一系列乡土小说,在幽默诙谐的喜剧特性、高超的人物塑造手法、含蓄洗练的讽刺艺术等艺术形式的包裹下,蕴含着深厚的文化内涵。沙汀通过对民众奴性心理、自私冷漠人性、静止僵化的封闭山乡的形象刻画与揭露,表达了深沉的文化思考,而这正是沙汀小说一以贯之的创作主题。

Sha Ting wrote a series of novels based on Chongqing and Sichuan areas in 1930s and 1940s. Previous commentators studied Sha Ting＇ s novels almost from the aspect of plot arrangement, characterization and artistic features, but they neglected its ideological connotations. This article attempts to break existing reach paradigm, and points out that servility, selfish and indifference personality and static local characteristics are consistent themes of Sha Ting＇ s novels.
