阎连科是一个执著地描写中国农民生活的著名作家,他笔下的农民大都承受了太多的苦难,但又不屈地抗争着。阎连科小说中的人物经过努力终于逃离了土地,但是却无法真正融入城市,内心对城市是抗拒的。他们在城市遇到生存挫折后,便转向对乡土精神家园的寻找和守护,以此来抵御城市文化的侵蚀和守护心灵深处的乡土温情。阎连科以此来展示城乡之间的对立。

Yan Lianke is a writer of renown who perseveres in depicting the life of Chinese farmers,most of whom are portrayed as struggling on unbendingly despite their enormous sufferings.In his novels,characters are antagonistic to city life in their heart,for they can not truly fit in well with it even if they have finally managed to flee the rural area.Thus,when they are frustrated in the city,they tend to search for and defend the spiritual home of their native land so as to resist the corrosion of urban culture and to defend the tender feeling of native soil in their inner heart.As such,the urban and rural conflict is well presented in Yan＇s novels.
