晚年狱中的托马斯·莫尔对新教异端的态度与入狱前相比有了较为明显的变化,表现为争论更为理性,并开始强调新教与天主教的共性。这一变化从根本上来自于莫尔的基督教世界思想,某种程度上可以视为是对《乌托邦》中体现出的早期宗教思想的回归。

In his final years in prison,Thomas More left an impression that his view of Protestant heresy,compared with that on religious controversies before the prison life,was evidently divergent,that is,he became more rational in critique and started to stress the proximity of Protestantism to Catholicism.This change originated from More＇s idea of Christendom,and could in a way be considered a reversion to his early religious thought as expressed in Utopia.
