This paper looks back on the historical background of the international Business English tests.Taking Business English as a branch of ESP,the paper studies the relationship between Business English tests and General English tests,the theoretical basis of the tests,the distinguishability,situational authenticity,interactional authenticity and non-language factors that the tests have,and the correlation between specificity continuum and language use domain.It also discusses the framework of theory-based validity and scoring validity of the tests.
