What will your life be like if you have to live alone after you grow old? How will you cope and spend your time if your children do not live with you and help you complete your daily chores? Song Shuying, 74,lives alone - but she is anything but lonely. She grows vegetables, plants flowers, practices:tai chi chuan and visits her friends. As the "4-2-1 family," or four grandparents, two parents and only child, is becoming mainstream in China, more and more seniors are becoming "empty nesters." Song does not live with her children, but she has good relationships with her neighbors. With aid from society, she is content with her life.
