Proofreading and etymology in Dunhuang Textual Research

近年来,有些研究者在考释敦煌文献词语时,由于对某些词汇的词源不了解或不熟悉,从而得出了一些不太准确的结论,因不明典故而误、因忽视前世文献而误、因缺少佛教知识而误、因不懂名物制度而误、因不知通假而误等。本文就此分类各举若干例证加以说明,希望引起学术界对词汇溯源的重视。

Some of unacceptable collation in textual research on Dunhuang Manuscripts are caused by incomprehension of etymology. Causes of incorrectness happened because of unfamiliarity of allusions, neglect of pre - existing literature, lack of knowledge of Buddhism, ignorance of historical articles and traditional systems, and unawareness of interchangeable characters. Here are examples of wrong usage hoping to calling academic eircle＇s attention to lexical etymology.
