On the Documentological Value of Unearthed Documents in the Study of Historical Records

20世纪以来,学者们自觉地将先秦秦汉考古文献资料应用于《史记》研究,取得了很大成就。在传世文献之外,出土文献为探讨《史记》的名称、体例、编撰形态,校勘《史记》文本,正确诠释《史记》等方面的研究提供了可资比较的"二重"材料,具有重要的文献学价值。

Since the 20th century,scholars have been very deliberate in their efforts to use archeological evidence from the pre-Qin through Han Dynasty era in their research of Historical Records,and they have been successful in these efforts.Besides the documents passed down through the ages,unearthed documents have provided a second level of research in examining terminology in Historical Records,style,format,collation and correct interpretation.Therefore these unearthed documents have proven to be quite valuable.
