Arabyis the third story in Dubliners by James Joyce,being his early works.In the fiction,the use of metaphor prevails in the story.This paper is an attempt to analyze some main metaphors in the story,such as＂the blind street＂,＂priest＂,＂Araby＂and＂Chalice＂to find out its special meaning within the context.In this way,the author intends to reveal the contradictions between dream and reality and also to display the character＇s psychological change.
