我国公示语的英译研究现状调查与对策

Status Quo and Strategies of Chinese-English Translation of Public Signs

国内城市公示语的翻译,历来为方家所诟病。有的译文不符合英语表达习惯,充斥着中式英语痕迹;有的冗余过度;有的译文措辞不当,辞不达意;有的译文不规范,违背相关的国际标准或国家标准。通过对我国公示语英译现状的调查研究,认为零散的实例、传统的研究方法已经远远满足不了当前形势的需要,要实现公示语英译的规范化,应建立相应的管理机制,应有立法的支持,同时应充分利用计算机和互联网技术建立全国公示语"双语平行语料库"。

The inappropriate translation of public signs of domestic cities has always been criticized by English language experts.Some are not translated idiomatically,full of Chinglish; some are translated with redundancy; some are translated inappropriately,not meeting relevant international standards or national standards.A survey on the English translation of public signs reveals that the study on Chinese-English translation of public signs is still limited to the study and analysis of specific cases.Moreover,the traditional research methods have been far from meeting the need of the current situation.The standardization of English translation of public signs needs the establishment of appropriate managing mechanism,support from the legislation and the establishment of a national parallel corpus with the aid of computer science and Internet technology.
