Composition of School Songs by ZHANG Jian and its Significance in Aesthetic Education

张謇是中国早期现代化的前驱。针对中国贫穷落后,他提出实业与教育两大目标,平衡推动,努力以赴。他以"夫教育而母实业"喻其宗旨。他创建了诸多新式学堂,并为这些学校撰写了校歌,歌词内容丰富,崇文重教,言志抒情,风格凝重,诗笔纵横,词藻优雅,从中我们可以见出其办学理想和美育思想。

ZHANG Jian is one of the pioneers who advocated modernization in China at an early time.Trying to eradicate poverty of then China,Mr.ZHANG set forth two aims,namely industry and education,both of which should be equally promoted and put full efforts into.Mr.ZHANG established many schools of new features and composed school songs for them.These school songs are abundant in connotation,advocate education,express ambition,and are elegant in words,from which we can see his ideas of establishing these schools and his ideas on aesthetic education.
