Agricultural Journal and the Strategy of its Editing and Disseminating

为探索中国晚清农业科技期刊传播的源头,通过原始文献分析考证,从传播学视角对创刊于清光绪二十三年(1897)的《农学报》的编辑出版宗旨、策略等作了初步研究。结论认为其首创中国专业科技期刊范式,填补了中国新闻事业史的空白;开辟了主要经由日本集中和大规模引进及传播西方现代农业科技知识的新型传播渠道,并形成了晚清中国农业知识体系的雏形。

To explore the disseminating source of agricultural journals in late Qing Dynasty, this paper conducts a preliminary study on the purpose and strategy of editing and publishing in Agricultural Journal founded in 1897, from the perspective of communication, by textual research and analysis on original journals and literatures. It con- cludes that Agricultural Journal creates a paradigm of Chinese professional scientific journals, accordingly fill the gaps in the history of China＇s journalism. The journal has opened up a new communication channel for introducing and spreading Western modern agricultural scientific knowledge intensively and massively mainly through Japan, and formed a prototype of Chinese agricultural knowledge systems in late Qing Dynasty.
